In his childhood although he was a dismal failure with a paintbrush, but he struck it rich when he discovered the camera. Subrata started photography in the mid 70's with his father's AGFA camera with Black & White film. His photography was limited to point and shoot happy family snaps & documentary travel photographs. Flash forward 2003... before a planned family vacation at Maui, Hawaii, he was quickly drawn to the world of landscape & nature photography. Cutting edge technology gave him tremendous opportunity to experiment and learn creative photography. Flash forward 2007... he started enjoying photographing people and loves to use two-dimensional tools to create the impression of the three dimensions. In order to achieve images with impact and emotion, he studies and has great appreciation of the work of great master photographers and painters. He tries to absorb all the brilliant nuances of light that these masters captured and how it shapes the human form.
Subrata also has great appreciation for natural world and enjoys photographing wildlife, and the natural landscape, when time permits. He feels the sense of joy, fulfillment and peace in natural world. He considers himself fortunate to be a resident of California, one of the most beautiful regions of our planet. The mountains, deserts, oceans, and rivers, it's amazing diversity provides him with an infinite source of inspiration, where everyday brings fresh hopes. And at times when the human-made world is too much to bear for him, he finds the real world to escape to. He is a frequent visitor to our National Parks.
